Q: WHEN WILL THE NAL START?

A: Season 4 (NA) will start September 12. More details will be announced soon.

Q: WHAT ARE THE PRIZES FOR THE NAL?

A: Rewards and prizes depend on the level of community support. Players compete for a grand cash prize as well as Notorious Arena League sails. Check out rewards from past seasons in the history page


Q: HOW DO I GO ABOUT JOINING THE NAL?

A: Anyone who wishes to sign up for the NAL can do so here. Teams go through a vetting process before they are officially entered into the league. Teams must have an original logo (750px by 750px), and conform to our Terms and Conditions. Our goal is to provide easy access to high level competition to those teams who take themselves seriously.


Q: IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT TO JOIN THE NAL?

A: No, but keep in mind that all competitors of the NAL are being held to a high standard in regards to maturity and respect. Teams must have at least one member over 18 years of age or a parent/guardian to claim seasonal rewards.


Q: HOW MANY WEEKS MAKE UP A “SEASON” IN THE NAL?

A: A season typically lasts 2 months.


Q: HOW LONG DOES ONE “SESSION” OF THE NAL TAKE?

A: Sessions in the NAL can take anywhere from three to four hours.


Q: HOW DO LOBBIES WORK WHEN COMPETING IN THE NAL?

A: Matches take place in NAL dedicated lobbies. All matches are scheduled in advance.


Q: HOW LARGE CAN A TEAM ROSTER BE?

A: A team roster can have a maximum of 8 players.


Q: CAN I PLAY ON MULTIPLE TEAMS AT ONCE IN THE NAL?

A: No, competitors in the NAL are only allowed to compete on one team per season. However, if a team were to disband in the middle of the season any player on that roster is able to promote themselves as a free agent and be picked up by another team.


Q: DO I NEED TO STREAM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NAL?

A: Yes, all team members are required to stream the matches. If any team member cannot stream, then he or she must record the entire game and submit it to the event organizers. Those who will not be streaming must notify event organizers at least 72 hours in advance. Exceptions can be made for last minute technical difficulties.


Q: WHAT IS NAL'S STANCE ON EXCLUSIVITY? IF I SIGN UP TO PLAY IN THE NAL, CAN I ALSO COMPETE IN OTHER TOURNAMENTS?

A: We encourage the support of the competitive community. The NAL does not limit its competitors to only competing in the NAL.


Q: I'VE BEEN BANNED ON SEA OF THIEVES, CAN I STILL COMPETE IN THE NAL USING A NEW GAMERTAG?

A: No, the NAL respects all bans from SoT on the behalf of Rare Ltd.


Q: WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A TEAM BUT STILL WANT TO COMPETE?

A: Anyone can sign up as a free agent on by clicking here.


Q: HOW MANY TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE?

A: Our current plans target a league of 10 teams, but we will continue to evaluate the situation and add more spots if necessary.

Q: COMMON TECHNICAL QUESTIONS?

Common techniques allowed in the NAL include:

  1. Sword lunging and dolphin diving.
  2. Shovel/bucket cancelling.
  3. Sword slashing(naturally).
  4. Loot Sprinting/Swimming.
  5. Double Gunning.
  6. Quick Shooting(naturally).
  7. Reload Cancelling(naturally).
